We have facilitated employment for 35 women while reuniting 7 girls with their families. Additionally, our Meseret Day Care has benefited 26 children, enabling their mothers to engage in meaningful employment.

Our Team

Rachel Duke

FOUNNDER & TRUSTEE

Rachel's journey with Meseret for Women began after she and her late husband, Tom, adopted their daughter, Solome, from Ethiopia. During their time in Addis Ababa, Rachel witnessed the immense struggles faced by single mothers, who often lack the support systems needed to rebuild their lives. This inspired her and Tom to create a safe and nurturing environment for these women, offering childcare, emotional healing, and educational opportunities. Rachel is proud to see Meseret for Women grow into a transformative organisation, helping mothers and their children thrive.

Peter Gough

TRUSTEE

Peter, a family doctor by profession, had the privilege of accompanying Rachel and Tom to Ethiopia in 2014, where he met their daughter, Solome. Deeply moved by the challenges faced by single mothers in Addis Ababa, Peter is committed to continuing Tom’s vision. As a trustee, he is dedicated to providing direct support for young mothers and their children, fostering a brighter and more united future through the charity’s vital work.

Caryss Welch

TRUSTEE

Caryss first connected with Meseret for Women during her visit to Ethiopia in 2017, where she saw the incredible impact of Rachel and Tom’s efforts to empower single mothers. Inspired by their dedication, Caryss has since been actively involved in supporting the charity both in the UK and on the ground in Ethiopia. She is honoured to contribute to a mission that transforms lives, ensuring a healthier and happier future for vulnerable mothers and their children.
